Philippe Garcia

Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Paris and photographer since 1990, Philippe Garcia composes his pictures in the style of a Dadaist painter.

Handling the surrealist references, influenced by a pop style and being an expert of a retro iconography, he develops photographic scenes as many as common life sketches with his recognizable humour.

Every painting is producing a discrepancy between the reality and a cinematographic fantasy dream.

In Garcia’s unusual universe, dogs, cubes or swimwear’s patterns look like still lives subtitled with witty remarks.

His female models lustful postures and distant Hitchcokian heroines create a synthesis of his facility to colour his images and his learning process of being a portraitist.

Philippe lives and works in Paris.
